Hayley McDonald is from Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation and has been singing since she was 7.
Hayley has received many accolades through her short career. She has been titled NCI Jam Winner in 2007, Thompson’s Teen Idol and is Canada’s First Aboriginal Icon. Hayley is a 1st place winner of multiple talent showcases in Manitoba and you can often find her music performances broadcasted live on NCI across the country.
As a young girl her passion for singing led her to sing with an all girl traditional drum group in her community. When she was a teenager, she sang O’Canada in Cree which was acknowledged and aired at the high school she attended. Hayley’s passion for singing is evidently clear as we can often find Hayley singing in a church choir on Sundays, rescuing dogs in her spare time and opening her heart for foster children in care.
Recently, Hayley had the honour to do the opening for Charlie Major and Doc Walker. She was also a special guest at the South Beach Casino singing with the C-Weed band.
Hayley continues to share her passion in music, plans to further her singing career by recording and writing.
